Pictures from yesterday

It was a very good day!
Walk across Tower Bridge - London from a different vantage point
1000 years of history - White Tower to the Shard

City Hall across from The Tower of London

Our gherkin peaking out behind the Tower

Building at left known as Cheese Grater

Shopping at Harrod's: Truffle fois gras - at 40 pounds a tiny tin...

Serpentine in Hyde Park - we ate at restaurant in background. Temperature? Felt like 100 degrees.

My seat with the pigeons - second from last row in the very steep top circle - fifth section up!

I was "reseated" by a lovely gentleman in a red uniform five minutes before concert and ended up in one of the better seats in the theatre. See the little tiny dots at the top? That should have been me!
The concert ended with an over-the-top rendition of the 1812 overture. There was an incredible cacophony of canon sounds (more like gunshots), church bells (rather electronic sounding) and explosions (strange fireworks shooting out of lights in ceiling and one balcony). The first shot lifted my neighbour a foot out of her seat but it was a crowd-pleaser and was greeted with an enthusiastic standing ovation. I suspect it was a bit cathartic for people.
